James V. DeBergh joined the firm in 2007, after graduating from American University's Washington College of Law. Mr. DeBergh participates in all areas of the firm's practice, with a focus on litigation and administrative law. While in law school, he worked for the National Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act Program at the National Park Service researching state burial laws, as well as clerked for a civil rights law firm in Los Angeles. Additionally, he served as Articles Editor for the American University Journal of Gender, Social Policy, and the Law, represented low income clients through the Civil Practice Clinic, and taught legal writing and research as a Dean's Fellow in the Legal Rhetoric department.
Prior to law school, Mr. DeBergh was a sixth grade teacher in the Navajo Nation as a Teach for America corps member. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from Columbia University and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Western New Mexico University. Bar and Court Admissions Virginia State Bar, 2007; District of Columbia, 2008.
