PARALEGAL
Our Firm was established in 1976 with a single purpose: to represent Indian tribes and that is what we continue to do today. We represent Tribes across the country in litigation, lobbying, economic development, health care, self-determination, transportation, tribal government, and more. We are looking for a paralegal that shares a commitment to representing Tribal interests.
Job Responsibilities
• Prepares and reviews correspondence, client memoranda, contracts, and other
documents to support our general counsel, transactional, and litigation work.
• Case management for litigation in federal, tribal, and state courts, including ensuring
compliance with court rules, calendaring and managing litigation deadlines, preparing
and filing court documents, and other general litigation tasks.
• Helps attorneys prepare for court appearances, such as compiling materials for oral
argument.
• Conducts research to support attorneys’ work.
• Coordinates with clients, court personnel, government agencies, opposing counsel, and
other third parties.
• Supports legal assistants to carry out administrative duties such as filing, data entry,
copying, scanning, document preparation and formatting, mail distribution, and office
calendaring.
• Maintains legal files in the Firm’s document management system and tracks files in
relation to the firm’s Document Retention Policy.
• Reviews files to determine appropriate retention and destruction according to Firm
policies.
• Assists senior partners in managing email, flagging high priority items and drafting
professional responses.
• Supports the Firm’s administrative and legal team with strong organizational skills and
the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with 1 hour lunch
Skills and Qualifications
• Experience with document management applications, such as NetDocs, and legal
research tools, such as Westlaw
• Litigation Management Skills
• Experience with e-filing via PACER and TrueFiling
• Administrative Writing Skills (writing sample required)
• Microsoft 365 Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Adobe Proficiency
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Flexibility to work overtime based on case needs.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, both in external communications and
internally with coworkers
• Ability to manage diverse workload, work independently and collaboratively, and
manage competing deadlines
• Proactive problem solver and communicator
Minimum Education and Experience
• College degree or paralegal certificate preferred
• 3+ years of paralegal experience, including litigation and transactional work.
• Law firm experience preferred.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
